Who will take care of me?

I’ve been taking care of my 93-year-old mother for more than 15 years. As a single I sometimes wonder who will take care of me when I grow old. This question plagues many of my single caregiver friends.

Japan has one of the highest life expectancy rates in the world. They live an average of 83 years1. These videos put a smile on my face – very creative ways of taking care of elders as a society. I’m sure they barely scratch the surface of an aging world.

Another creative initiative by the Japanese – a restaurant where you are served food you didn’t order. Welcome to the Restaurant of Mistaken Orders!

Longevity is great when life is healthy and meaningful. By 2030, around 1 in 4 Singaporeans will be aged 65 or above, up from 1 in 10 in 20101. I call myself a junior senior. I am not passively waiting to become a senior senior knowing that God has my back. My life is anchored on a firm foundation.

This is what God says to his people in Isaiah 46:3-4:

Even to your old age I am he,
    and to grey hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
    I will carry and will save.

By the way, Singapore also attempted our edition of Restaurant for Mistaken Orders launched at the 14th World Aging Festival 2023.
