“Good afternoon and welcome to MacDonalds,” said the crew member when I stepped up to the counter.
It took a while for me to understand what the dark skinned foreigner was saying when he took my order. He got busy punching the keys and then going to the rack to pick up my burgers and chips. Sham bent down behind the counter to get me some packets of chilli and napkins.
“Thank you Sham,” I told him.
Immediately he popped his head up, gave me the biggest smile and said, “Hey! You’re the first person that ever called me by my name!”
It didn’t take much to make someone’s day.
