Partnering with AI
I received an ad offering a one-time payment for 2000 white label ebook titles. There are no copyright infringements and I can even resell it!
A white-label product is a product or service produced by one company (the producer) that other companies (the marketers) rebrand to make it appear as if they had made it. The name derives from the image of a white label on the packaging that can be filled in with the marketer’s trade dress. I have a BIG problem with that – Making things appears as if I had done it!
I have written and have helped others write and edit their books. Writing is HARD work. I’m all for time savers and money makers but NEVER at the expense of lying. I may get flacked for calling that a lie.
I will never (God help me!) present myself as a subject expert or the creator of an art when I am not. I will not say I wrote something when I did not. Years ago, I submitted a piece of creative writing to the newspaper. The editor took a long time to publish it because they were checking to see if I had plagiarised the article. Now that’s a compliment! I’ll share the article one of these days.
God made us “in his image.” He is our creator. He gave us the ability to create. It feels great to partner with him. We can ask him when we run out of ideas or the ability to do something. He says he will give us wisdom.
For that reason, I will NEVER let AI do my writing for me. It takes time to research, to plough through pages of search engine links and to double check if the source is reliable. It’s very tempting to let AI do for me in seconds what I take hours and even days to do.
The other day I was working on my website. I couldn’t get the page to appear correctly. I copied my html codes and ran it though ChatGPT. It not only corrected the codes but it also told me where I went wrong. I would have NEVER figured it out because I don’t know enough hard coding. I may partner with AI for some technical help but I will not allow it to decide what I say.

To be an author is to be the brain, the thinker, the curator, the decision maker of what goes in or stays out of the piece of writing. To write is to PROCESS. Sadly, we value the product more than the process. We don’t care what goes on behind-the-scenes. We are a generation of appearances.
