Growing younger
After Mum broke her left wrist on 8 December 2024, we had to prop her arm with pillows to make her comfortable and also to help with blood circulation.
I began to notice how she would unconsciously rub the corners of the pillow like how young children would do. She does it while she lies in bed or sits on her lazy chair or as I talk to her. I am utterly amused. She is so, so cute.

Hmmm 🤔. Cute? That’s a word I never imagine I would use to describe her. She was always my no-nonsense and strict mother. In recent years I’m discovering many new things about Mum – her wit, playfulness, and very sweet nature. She makes me want to hug her.
I wish I had met and known this side of her so many years ago.
The Bible tells us that who we really are is veiled right now. But as we walk close with Jesus, he transforms us into his image from one degree of glory to another. (2 Corinthians 3:18)
I see this glowing, growing glory in Mum.
Ninety plus is old on this side of eternity. But ninety is young when we consider that God made us for eternity.
…We look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. – 2 Corinthians 4:18, ESV

This blog warms my heart, Angeline!!
Yes, it is such a precious privilege to see the other side of the real person… by that I mean there’s no need to put up a front before another person, be it a family member or a stranger. Child-like. Relaxed. Reflective. Or simply feel-ly…

Thanks, LC. Some elderly can be challenging to care for. I am thankful Mum makes my journey a fun for my helper and myself.
