Aiyah! Why now?
Our home was slatted to undergo a government initiated Home Improvement Programme (HIP) from 11 to 21 December 2024 to make our home (particularly the toilets) elderly-friendly. Ironically, HIP or rather the preparations leading up to HIP was the cause of Mum’s fall.
Prior to HIP, I had to dust proof the whole house. They hacked the whole toilet. On 8 December, four days before HIP, mum got up at 1 am to go to the toilet. She was disoriented because all the furniture had been moved. She slipped and fell and fractured her left wrist. Thank God it wasn’t her dominant right hand. I had to get an ambulance to take her to A&E.
