Things you already know
If you are interested to write, here are five ideas to kickstart the writing juices in you. Begin with the things you already know about. You don’t have to look long and hard because they are in you. Make a list. Write them in point form if that’s easier for you. Let’s use Human Intelligence instead of Artificial Intelligence.
My list of five things to write about
You are a volunteer. An interest group that is doing your community good that you enjoy: youth, seniors, animals? What makes you passionate about it? Is there a story you can tell? What are 3 things your reader should know about this group? Where can they join you?
You are a professional in a special field. Is there a tip you can share? What is something people are always curious about? The other day an embalmer gave a talk at our group. What a lot of questions she got! How about an article on “a day in the life of a…”?
You are a subject expert. What is something people always struggle with that you have a solution for? How can you break it down to steps to make it do-able for strugglers? Health, fitness, and nutrition? Financial management? How to be creative?
You have a hobby you enjoy. You think it’s so cool and that you think others should give it a go: Pickleball? Growing your own food? How long have you been at it? How did you get started? Share things you must NOT do if you want to succeed.
You have a skill to pass on. What benefits will people have if they possess this skill? How to do your own repairs around the home? How to take better travel pictures? How to organise your photos? Share favourite links they should check out.
Don’t think too hard. Just do it!
- Pick a topic
- Make a list
- Use the 5Ws 1H
– Who is this for?
– What is it (in one statement)?
– Why or in what way will they benefit? (Answer “what’s-in-it-for-me)
– Where can you find resources, tutorials?
– When is the best time to do this?
– How do you do it in 3-5 steps?
TIP: Use this article as a template to write your own article. Write an introduction, make a list, and a how-to. Give it a catchy title.
